Dear Sir

I am favoured with your Letter of the 17th instant & observe that you have received proposals for taking the Colliery from Mr Morrison. I now understand from Mr Simpson that it is for Lord Mountsteward and Lord Beauchamp & himself & that he has wrote to you & Mr Eyse to that purpose. This Affair will require some Consideration & may be necessary that you and Mr Eyre should have a Meeting on the Occasion & that a skilfull Colliery Viewers should be consulted for Mr Brown has been employed by Mr Bainbridge. As this cannot be done imediately you (& probably Mr Eyre) will be in this Country in August to which Time it must be postponed. I have made Mr Wilson acquainted with this Business - he & I in Conjunction with Mr Eyres Agent will procure what Information we can about this Colliery. My Brother Sir Edward Blackett has not fixed any Time for his Journey. I shall acquaint him with your obliging Invitation but apprehend it will not be in his Power to wait on You in his Way North. As to the Smelt Mill on Acomb Common I am satisfied that you & he will have no dispute about as he will leave it to Mr Fawcett & Mr Wilson to settle.

I have had Mr Bosville’s Glass ready packed since the 21st April & have not had an opportunity of sending it but expect soon to send it by a Vessel to Bridlington. I have inclosed you the Note for which I have paid £54.9s.11d & charged it to your Account

                                                                                          I am etc JEB
