Sir Thomas Blackett Barot at Bretton Newcas 30th May 1778 Yorkshire Dear Sir I am favoured your Letters of the 23d & 26th instant & observe That you have received the Bill for £300 & that you had likewise received the Bill Messrs Plumb & Browne. Please to inform me if this Sum is exclusive of the Bill I drew on them for £200. I have paid Mrs Scott the £550. Mr Bell Yesterday paid me £1000 on Account of Rents. What money remains in his hands will be necessary to pay the house & Stable Notes when you come into the North. Please to let me know what Sum you would have remitted you at Bretton or to Mr John Cockshield. The Hogshead of Port shall be sent to Hexham & Mr Bell is advised of it. I have sold to Doctor Hall of this Place about 14000 ps of your Lead; one half refined & the rest Common at £13.2s.6d per Fother - part of this Quantity is now coming down from Dukesfield but it will be some time before the whole Quantity is delivered. I have sent a piece of your Silver containing 891 Ounces to Plumb and Browne - that Article has lately fallen 3d per ounce. They will begin refining your Lead at Blaydon about the 10h June.
