Dr Sir

	I am favoured with your Letter of the 2nd inst & am glad to find that the Disposition of the Rooms in Mr Wilson’s house meet with your Approbation; I observe what you say as to the Safe Closet & on Consulting again with Mr Anderson he is of Oppinion that the Proper place for it will be in the Part that I described in the Plan by taking off a small part of a Closet in Mr Wilson’s House & wch he Consents to; It may be made there at a fourth Part of the Expence that it wou’d in any other place, & rest on a Brick Arch instead of resting on Timber.  When Mr Anderson purchased your premises in this Town, no Exceptions were made of the Iron Doors & Locks, nor indeed did I think it Adviseable to make any Exceptions at that time least it might throw some Obstruction in the way of the Sale; of Course all the Fixtures are Mr Andersons.  As to the Iron Chest, the Presses, Tables & other Furniture with the Guns etc Mr Anderson has nothing to do with them; & he is willing to let you have the Iron Doors etc at the Price of Old Iron wch is reasonable & Fair.  Mr Peart will be Satisfied with the £10 p Year in lieu of a House.  The description of your Arms & Crest is sent to Langlands & Robertson to be engraved on your Waiter wch will be sent you in a Box on Thursday next by Pickersgill Leeds Waggons.  Its Probable that the Lead Fume may be detained by the Stoppage in the Canals.  Mr Bell came here on Wednesday from Hexham & paid Me £1000 on Acct of Rents, it was with great difficulty that he got here the Snow was so much Drifted.  Inclosed you will receive a Bill drawn by Bell Carr & Co on Castell & Co of this date at a Month for £1000 for wch you will please to send me your, or Mr Noble’s, Receipt.  The beginning of next Month Mr Anderson is to pay you £4000 on Acct of his Purchase, I desire that you will acquaint me whether you wou’d have the whole of that Sum (or what part of it) remitted to you.  On the 31st Ulto I Paid Messrs Bell Carr & Co Proprietors of the Bank £1812.14s.2d being the Balance of your Acct with them, & Inter: thereon.
