Mr. Thos. Emerson Newcastle 3rd January 1800 Newhouse Weardale D[ea]r sir My Lord Bishop of Durham, at Col[one]l Beaumonts request, having resigned to him the right of Purchasing the Land tax for Weardale mines &c. I have to request your getting a Certificate of the Amount of the Land tax paid for the Leadmines Lands &c. In Weardale from the Assessors of the respective Parish and returning by the first opportunity~Our Acco[un]t of Land tax does not agree with that of the Commiss[ion]ers at Durham, they having the Mines rated at £43.4. instead of £42.4. (the sum paid) and which they inform us they cannot correct without a Certificate from the Assessors. A part of the £45.17.4 mentioned by Mr. Mowbray we have not yet been able to make out. Killhope & Wellhope pays £1-18. Lands &c in Weardale <ditto> 12s/6d which makes only £44.14.6 instead of £47.17.4 p[er] Mr Mowbrays letter~If the Assessors know of any other Land tax pd. by Col Beaumont in Weardale desire they will include it in the Certificate~ I am &c.
