Dear Sir

      I wrote to Mrs. Beaumont from Morpeth on the 31st. Ulto., since which I have been favoured with your Letter of the 7th. Inst. enclosing Mr. Knights Letter; the Contents of which I communicated to Mr. Featherston as well as to Mr. Johnson.   

      I have had a Letter from Mr. Cockshutt; (a Copy of which I enclose you) I approve much of what he recommends & I have had some Conversation with your Agent Robt. Mulcaster on the Subject; he has no Objection to what Mr. Cockshutt proposes, and on his Summons will take a Place in the Leeds Coach & proceed to Huthwaite. – 

      I have this Morning had some Conversation with your Land Steward Mr. Thomas, who is proceeding very properly in the Business of your Concerns.

      The Demand for Lead at present is very trifling and I am apprehensive that the War will have a bad Effect on the Trade, particularly should the French take Possession of Hamburgh &c. – I have at present about 10,000 ps. ready for Sale, and more daily coming down; I could wish (under the Circumstances of the Times) to make a Sale, even at a small reduced Price but the London Houses make no Offers.   What Time may we expect to see Mrs. Beaumt. and you in Northumberland.
