Thos Rd Beaumont Esqr M.P. NewC 21st Decr 1795 Portman Square London Dear Sir I wrote to you the 18th Inst since which I have been favoured with your Lre [Letter] of the same date enclosing Mr Richardson’s letter; he & Mr Carr of Allenheads are to be down with me next week when I will endeavour to settle the matter in dispute between them; previous to that I should be glad to know what Sum you had come to a resolution to allow Mr Carr in lieu of the 5s formerly paid by each Workman which Ceased on the 30th Sept last; in the summer Mrs Beaumont mentioned the matter to me; but I do not recall whether it was £60 or £70 per Ann[um] & £20 for teach[in]g the School: Mr Carr being at the charge of a proper Assistant if necessary; be pleased to inform me as to this matter. The high price of Corn is a very alarming circumstance, and not only requires the most serious consideration, but Unanimity in carrying into execution such Resolution & Associations that may be entered into for the lessen[in]g the consumption of Wheat etc & by those means reduc[in]g the price of it; but I much doubt whether any thing short of an Obligatory Act on the Baker will have the desired effect I have by this post another letter from Mr Skelton respecting Mr Stackpole’s Affair on which I shall consult Mr Williamson tomorrow. I am with best Comp[liment]s to Mrs Beaumont & yourself Yours etc J.E.B
