Dear Sir	I wrote to you on the 18th & 21st Inst & have this day rec[eive]d your letter of the 21st Inst: I shall make application to Captn Rothe for the discharge of Lewis Ogle & acquaint you with my success. On consulting with Mr Williamson respecting Mr Stacpole’s Claim, he is of opinion that in case of a seisure being made for the Arrears of the Annuity that Messrs Surtees Burdon & Co will be the proper Persons to make application to for the purpose of giving the necessary security; they of course will expect a Bond of Indemnity from you, which by Mr Williamsons Advice I have desired Mr Heron to prepare & send you to be executed; Messsr Surtees, Burdon & Co will expect that you should make Application to them to become security in case of necessity .

As there are at present about 9000 p[iece]s of Lead on the Key at Blaydon that are sold & not yet shipt by the several purchasers ; In case of a seisure being made the consequences (owing to delay etc) might be attended with great inconvenience etc to the Purchasers, as well as yourself; on which account Mr Williamson recommends that the Lead so sold be as soon as possible removed out of your Premises, I have accordingly secured a Key for the purpose almost adjoining which will be taken tomorrow morning by Mr Chris Blackett who (on my mentioning the affair to him) is kind enough to undertake it. I am with respect Dear Sir Yours etc J.E.B

A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates. It was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the generous support of other sponsors. Friends of the North Pennines: Charity No:1137467
