Col Beaumont NewCastle Septr 24th 1795 Bretton Wakefield Yorkshire Dear Sir I have the favour of your letter of the 18th Inst & am in hopes that before this reach you that the destination of your Regiment has been altered for Ireland instead of the West Indies. I observe that neither you or Mrs Beaumont have requested Mr W Trevelyan to act as one of a Committee for the Management & Conducting of the future Election Concerns, I would have made the Application to him myself, but its coming from one of you with more propriety & effect, & its being what he will certainly expect, induced me to postpone it; but previous to any steps being taken with propriety in this business it will be necessary that the Committee should be fully Informed of your Resolution respecting the general Election, as well as the probability of going abroad; Mr Heron agrees with me in opinion. I am making use of every exertion to get the Lead down to Markett before the Roads break up & I hope in the course of three Weeks to make a Sale of 20,000 Pieces at an advanced price. The Bills for the Lead already deliver’d shall be procured as soon as possible. Inclosed I send you an Account of the proceedings of Mr Bell & Mr Straker at Allenheads & what I would recommend to be done at that place etc, I remain with best respect etc Dear Sir Your Most Obed[ien]t & Faithfull H[um]ble Serv[an]t Coll Beaumont John E Blackett
