Newcastle 4th May 1793 Dear Sir I hope that this may find you well after your journey. The Pay was made at Dukesfield on wednesday to the Great satisfaction of the workmen as well as the Country in General; the great sum in Cash was very pleasing to them at this time, it gave them confidence and not the least objection was made Notis; Mr Straker returned this evening after making the pays for Allenheads, Coaleheugh & Weardale Miners & he gives me the like account; Mr C Blackett returned with me from Dukesfield on Thursday , I am with respect Dear Sir your most obedient and Humble Servant John E.
