Mr Thomas Wall Paper Buildings Newcas 12th Augst 1778 Temple London Sir I am favoured with your Letter of the 8th instant & observe That on Mr. Turners Application to you that he should be supplied with what Money he may have occasion for & that you would advise me of the same. The late Sir Walter Blackett had £1200 of the late Major Carrs Money on the Death of that Gentleman & his Lady it came to his three Daughters _ Mr. Sam[ue]l Rolleston of Old Alresford in Hants married the eldest the 2nd Miss Mary Carr is the Lady you had the Letter from _ the youngest (who I am informed was of Age last month & resides at Uttoxeter in Staffordshire) married Capt[ai]n Astle who is now in America. I have had a great deal of trouble about this Money & in March last I gave them notice that I would pay off the several Bonds and the Int[e]rest in July provided they could give me a proper discharge but not hearing from them I imagined it could not be done till Capt. Astle’s return so I have not provided for this Payment nor can I make it with Convenience till the 1st Novem[be]r next at the soonest against which Time I will remit the Money to you provided they are prepared to give me a regular discharge I should have told you that Sir Robert Carr Trustee under the Will of the Widow of Major Carr refused to Act _ Should they apply again to you please to give them this Answer & I will write to Mr. Rollestone about it. A Bond of the late Sir W[alte]r Blacketts to the late Sir Will[ia]m Carr of Etal for £1200 is to be paid off sometime next month to Mr. Richard Carr Glyn in London. I shall next Week remit you a Bill for that Amount & the Int[e]rest but I apprehend it will be the End of the Month of September before the Bill will be payable. Should Mr. Glyn apply to you please to acquaint him with this. I must give you the trouble to make this Payment which when done you will please to send me the Bond & Receipt. I am etc J E B.
