Sir     I received your Letter of the 25th instant & Note the Contents.  It is not Sir Walter Blackett’s intention to charge Interest on the Debt due from R. Morrow so you will please to make the Bond payable without In[tere]st.

     Inclosed you will receive Messrs. Bell Cookson & Co’s Bill on on Messrs. Hallifax Mills & Co. at  a months date for  Five hundred Pounds to pay one half Years’ Intrest on Sir Walter Blackett’s Bond to Sir Edwd. Widdrington due the 6th Augst. next. _  Please to acknowledge the Receipt of this Bill & when the Money is paid send me a proper Receipt.  I am etc           J. E. B

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
