Newcastle 10th Feb.y 1801 Auckland Castle Dear Sir I delayed acknowledging the Receipt of your obliging Favour of the 21st. ulto. until I had procured the Certificates of the two remaining Lives in the Lease of Kilhope and Welhope and of Lintzgarth which I now send you, the Rental &c of which you have at foot; when you have taken into Consideration the Sum to be paid to the Lord Bishop for a Renewal of the Lease by the Insertion of a new Life in the Place of the late Richd. Brook, be pleased to advise me of the same.- I am glad that the Dispute respecting Harehope Gill Lead Mine is at length settled; the Award of the Arbitrators is sent up to London; as soon as it is returned, it will be highly proper that no time may be lost in having a Meeting on the Spot of the Agents of the Parties in the Presence of the Agent of the Lord Bishop, that the Boundaries may be finally settled agreeable to the Award and Plan annexed thereto, which may prevent any further Dispute. I am happy in finding that my Endeavours to suppress the iniquitous Practice of the Miners destroying the Game on the Moors of the Lord Bishop, meets with your Approbration, i have given the several Agents of Mr. Beaumont the necessary Directions for that Purpose, and be assured that I shall from time to time enforce the same.
