Dear Sir



	I am favoured with your Letter of the 10th. inst. and am sorry to hear that any of Mr. Beaumont’s Workmen have behaved so ill as to destroy Game on the Moors of the Lord Bishop of Durham, but particularly for the late very outrageous Behaviour of Jno. Bainbridge which certainly deserves the most severe Reprehension & Punishment, and will give Mr. Beaumont very great Offence; I have given Directions to the Agent Mr. Emerson to discharge John Bainbridge of Greenhead, from the Works at the end of the Quarter, but in Case of his not being engaged in a Bargain, to discharge him immediately, at the same time acquainting him and the rest of the Workmen with the Cause of his doing so; Mr. Emerson has likewise Directions to caution the Workmen against killing Game on the Lord Bishop’s Moors, particularly the Woodmen at, and in the Neighbourhood of Wolsingham under Mr. Beaumonts highest Displeasure. – I am happy in hearing that the Lord Bishop and his Lady are in good Health. – I made Application to you last spring about renewing the Lease to Mr. Beaumont of Kilhope and Welhope with Lintzgarth, by putting in a Life in the Room of the late Richard Brook deceasd. the present Lives in that Lease are William Sykes and Geo: Robson, Certificates of their being living and in good Health I will endeavour to send you in the Course of ten Days, when I shall be glad to be informed what Sum his Lordship will require for putting in a fresh Life.
