Willm. Emm Esqr. Newcastle 9th. Octr. 1801 Auckland Castle. Dear Sir I have been for some time in treaty for the renewal of the Lease of Kilhope and Welhope with Lintzgarth in Weardale, held by T.R.Beaumont Esqr. of the Lord Bishop of Durham, & I wished much that it might be carried into Execution before his Lordship left the Country; the particular spot of Ground pointed out by Mr. Mowbray which was to be given up for the Purpose of a Chapel being erected with a School House and Ground for the Minister & Schoolmaster, having been thought very prejudicial to Mr. Beaumont’s Lead Concerns, I represented the same to Mr. Mowbray, since which Mrs. Beaumont has been on the Spot, & after having taken a View of the Ground, & fully considered the Matter, she wrote me her Sentiments on the Business, which I take the Liberty of enclosing to you, to be laid before the Lord Bishop, should you think proper; Coln. & Mrs. Beaumont leave Hexham on Monday the 12th. inst. & intend sleeping at the Inn at Bishop Auckland. I am &c. -J.E.B.
