Sir

Your Letter to me of the 19th. inst. has rather surprized me, being wrote in a Style which I had no reason to expect.-

I have always been ready on the part of Coln. Beaumont to discharge every proper Demand on him, on being applied to for the Purpose, and I hope to satisfie the Lord Bishop of Durham of the same, when I have the Honour of seeing him at this place on the 6th. July & shewing him your Letter & a Receipt of Mr. Wm. Charlton for his Lordship’s Rent for Lands at Winlaton due Martinmas 1791 amounting (after Deduction of the Land Tax) to £4.10.8. The Sum due for nine Year’s Rent, will be paid at Colonel Beaumont’s Office in this place, when applied for. I am &c. -J.E.B.
