Newcastle 17th Decem[ber] 1813 Mrs Beaumont Bretton In this and two other Covers you will receive the Agents Reports of the State of the Mines, previous to letting the Ore Bargains for this quarter, by which you will perceive that the Mines are generally poor, altho[ugh] the quantity of Ore raised this Year, will I apprehend exceed that of the former Year. - Since my return from London I have made an Agreement with Messrs Walkers Maltby & Co to deliver them 2500 pieces of Lead monthly, for twelve months to come, at £30 p[er]fodder for Refined. This Agreement I consider favorable to your Interest and carrying with it the probability of maintaining this price at least - if not more – for any further quantity of Lead you may have to dispose of within the above period, provided the Export to the Continent in the Spring, equal the expectations of the Merchants. – I am etc – MM
