Mrs Beaumont Newcastle 2nd August 1808 Addressed to Col Beaumont Thorpe near Malton I am duly honored with your Letters of the 27th & 28th Ult the first containing Lady Milbank’s Bill on Thomas Hudson for £100 which I hope to receive previous to your arrival at the Mines – the other, Alderman Blackett’s Letter of the 2nd January 1805 and a summons to Col Beaumont to attend the Grand Jury at the coming Assizes. The Alderman is not yet returned from Harrogate nor is he expected Home for some weeks, by which time I may have the pleasure of seeing Mr Bowns here, when something may be determined upon subject to your approbation. Mr Clayton who is under Sheriff will assign proper cause for Colonel Beaumont’s non–attendance at the Assizes. I have repeatedly urged <Walter> Heron to send in his Bill, without effect and he now says that until the Assizes are over it will not be in his power. Mr Wilson has not yet sent his Bill. Mr Dodd the Lead Company’s Agent has been applied to, but the sum to be paid by them cannot be fixed previous to the expiration of the 30th September & at which time the original agreement with the present Bishop expires and to which period they must deliver an Acc[oun]t of the Ore wrought out of the Weardale Mines.
