I have to acknowledge the receipt of your Letter of the 23rd inst from Leeds. Mr Blackett writes by this morning’s Post to Mr Emm expressing his readiness to wait upon the Bishop of Durham on the subject of Col Beaumont’s Letter, when a day is appointed I shall accompany Mr Blackett over to Aukland and the particulars of the interview will be communicated to you as soon as possible. Yesterday I sold 5,000 Pieces of Lead more to Messrs Prestons, making the whole Sales since your return from the Mines 43,300 Pieces.

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
