I acknowledge the rec[eip]t of your Letter of the 30 Ult enclosing a Bill for £288-8-6, which is passed to the Credit of your Account. The Nett proceeds of my consignment has fallen so short of my expectations and so much below the cost price, that at present, and until your markets improve and continue without depression, there is no inducement to export. At 62 fra[nc]s the 100 K[ilogra]ms which you first quoted, an adequate return would have been realized; but at 52 f[ranc]s the loss is too serious to attempt doing more. – I am etc
