Newcastle 15 October 1818 Thos W Beaumont Esqr MP Hexham Abbey The Miners having returned to work, and the last quarter expired for which the Ore Bargains were taken, It becomes necessary, to enter into a new agreement with them for the present quarter ending with the year: In consequence Mr Geo: Crawhall came down yesterday from Weardale to to fix upon the highest price pBing, proper to be given for raising Ore, and we determined that an advance of 5/ pBing on the former price of 35/ should be offered for this & the following Quarter; but that no alteration in the subsistence or lent money on account of the Yearly earnings could be made; and which is to be continued after the rate of 30/ pMan per month as heretofore. – I take the liberty of making this communication to you, in the event of the workmen continuing to expect their own unreasonable demands to be complied with; and again applying to you for that purpose, . – I am etc MM
