To Mr Ben Skatt

                                                                           Ravensworth Castle  Octor 21st 1737

Dear Sir

	Being so often abroad is the occasion of my not getting your Letters immediately as they come by post, & of your wanting an immediate answer.  I reced both yours for which I thank you with the Recet for Lady Catherine Radcliffs Annunity & Testimonial of her being alive, when it become due, which is all right except that of paying Mr Hunter half a Guinea for Signing the Testimoniall, which I am afraid you have done instead of Mr Strickland who ought to have paid it, & indeed I must desire you wait upon him at your Convenience & gett it of him.  You may please to tell him that we shall not for the future pay it without their producing proper Testimoniall which they are not, without the Auditor Sign ‘em.  What expence you have been or shall be at in this affair pray charge upon Mr Boag & me

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale.
