Sir
We reced yours of the 30 january last & are in as much Concern as you can Imagine, in the disappointment we mett with, by not meeting you at Hartside Fell, in order to Settle the differences between you & us relating the Boundary of Hartside Colliery, but you may be assured of our attending you as soon as the Weather will permit which we hope may be in March next, in our way to Keswick, therefore in the meantime we desire you will not suffer your workmen to proceed, as that may probably only Exasperate & prevent the dispute being settled in an amicable way.
Whether it may appear in your favour or notwe cannot pretend to say, but if it does we dare venture to say the Commissioners of Greenwich Hospitall will no way Interfere with you in the Enjoyment of what appears they have no Claim to, neither will they suffer anye person whatever to encroach upon what the Derwentwater Family always Enjoyd, in whose places they now stand.
This dispute is Certainly not worth Contending about & you may be assured it shall be Considered with an Impartial Eye, and every thing shall be done by us Consistant with our Duty to the Comm[issioners] to prevent any dispute in Law by
