Letter – Nicholas Walton to Hugh Boag – 12 May 1738

To Mr Boag 							Ravensworth Castle  May the 12. 1738



Sr

      I reced. Yours of the 8 May Instant with a letter of Attorney from Mr Goodison Impowering me to Receive the Rents of some Housing in Newcastle, in which pray acquaint him that I will Do him all the service I can.

	I have wrote to Mr Corbett this day a Copy of which I send you herewith so that I need say no more relating that affair: I Did not know that Mr Corbett was Marryd, for which reason I did not congratulate him upon the Birth of two Little ones, supposing it might give some offence.

	Mr Pearson will certainly send you a copy of Fishers Lease.

	I am sorry you doe not think of being at home soon, as I am that you are under some apprehensions of our Bill Miscarrying, Surely it cannot be as the Ministry has a farr greater Majority in the Lords than Commons. You shall be Informed of everything I write to the Board while you stay, so that you will [Back and] gett settled all you can.  

	It concerns me much that you think the coale trade is likely to suffer, but I hope and rather am apt to think the contrary. This Enquiry in Parliament will most likely be of service.

	The three Tun of Lead is come Down and will be shipt in a few Days by

PS The Post is just come and I am greatly concernd to hear the Derwentwater Bill meets with so great opposition but hope the next Post will bring better news. I realy pitty you, but you must keep your spirits up & not be disheartened.

	I have sent I mean shall send Rich. Tomorrow morning with the Bill to Mr Ancrum, but I wish we may be safe as the Bill should have been noted  & protested for Non Payment . Pray tell Mr Wood of it & that I am afraid it will fall upon him as the neglect is at his Door. I will take care to do all I can about it.
