Sir

       I was duly favoured with your letter of the 10th and have considered the matter respecting the riding in the Encroachments and think with you that it will be the best way to have a consultation with Mr Heron as soon as possible after he returns from London & I will meet you and him any time you shall fix.

       As the Long Ditch from Kilhope Cross to Hardrig Currock is cleaned out I think it is the best time possible for fixing the Stakes & indeed I very much incline to have that done and in so very material a business I cannot suppose the Expence to be any object to Sir Thomas Blackett and Greenwich Hospital and I therefore hope when you consult with Sir Thomas’s agents it will be determined to go upon the work without delay. I had written the above just before I r[e]c[ieve]d yours of this Day and I will be obliged by Mr Dickinsons taking the trouble of getting the Posts made and the sooner they are got ready the better as I shall only wait ‘till I see Mr Fryer to fix a Day for meeting which will I think most probably be some one the Week after next. Great care must be taken to have the Posts as clear of Sap & Knots as possible and to be of that kind of Fir that has the most Turpentine or Resin in it and a Wooden Mallet sh[oul]d be made for driving them. I will take care to keep clear of a Tuesday. I will acquaint my Father with what you mention as to the Deed for conveying the Fee Farm Rent.
