Jno Ibbetson Esqr Newcastle 5th June 1801 Sir On the 14th April 1798 the Directors were acquainted that a Purchase had been made of Thomas Leaches Allotment of Common for his Estate at Turfhouse, at the Price of £12.12. and on the 21st of the same Month the Board approved of what had been done upon the occasion. Thomas Leache is since dead and as his Heir at Law lives at Shadwell it is probable he may wish to dispose of the Estate in respect of which the Allotment of Common was made & if he will do so it would be a very proper thing to purchase it for the Hospital. We therefore beg leave to recommend it to the Directors to cause Messrs Everest and Martyr to wait upon Mr Robt Leach at Shadwell & to make a Purchase of the Estate at Turfhouse for which the Allotment was made, which consists of a House Smiths Shop and Garth, if that can be done for £60 or less as they are extremely inconveniently situauted for the Hospital Tenant. We have written fully on this Subject to Messrs Everest and Martyr and desired them to attend at Salters Hall on the 10th Inst to receive the directions of the Board upon the occasion, and in case this second Purchase shall be effected the surrender may be completed at once, the whole Estate being Copyhold. We are Sir Your most obedt Servts Walton & Turner [annotated in a different hand:] Joseph Forster
