Sir

	We reced. yours of the 13 Inst & are sorry that the Tennants are so obstinate & will not pay. You had positive orders to sue John Thwaite Anth Scott & Thomas Jackson with out any delay & Lanc Penny was to be threatened, & to have a fortnight spareance or more, & if he will pay you in a reasonable time we desire he may be forbore, but as for the rest Lett the process goe on against them till they pay their Arrears & costs, we have wrote to Mr Pearson about them.

	We are to be at Hexham on Monday & Tuesday first Collecting the Rents but we are afraid this will not reach you so as we can see you at that place. We are Sir Yours &c

PS I had a Letter from Lanc Penny in answer to his I have given 14 days or 3 weeks spareance from 19 inst but no further forbearance.  HB

John King, a Keswick lawyer, was Court Keeper for the Hospital’s manors of Keswick and Thornthwaite in Cumberland.
