Letter – Nicholas Walton to John Maule – 10 Feb 1741

To Mr John Maule



Dear Sir

      We would have answered your Letter of the 22nd Jan. last much sooner but that we have Scarce been together Since, so as to have time to Consider, how to do what is right, with respect to Mr Woodhouse and Your Clerk. We are much obliged to You for the trouble you take in dispatching our accots. I can have no Objection to yr Two Guineas You mention for Expences Postage of Letters &c which we herewith remitt you, together with the ann.l Payment due at Xmas last & the two Guineas you formerly paid to Mr Woodhouse. For the trouble your Clerk has had, we are very desirous he should be gratify’d & therefore have likewise remitted you Five Guineas on that accot. & Three more to be pay’d to Mr Woodhouse for his Trouble and Dispatch, which we hope both of them will Continue, so as at the next Declaration of Accot. we may have our Quietus for both. This we hope will be thought sufficient & that it will give Mr Woodhouse and your Clerk Satisfaction, & at a Convenient opportunity we would be very glad to hear it. We often drink the Health of all our Friends at Greenwich and Broadstreet & as we have not the pleasure of Drinking a Glass with any of them, we desire you will be so good as Drink a Guinea with Such of our Friends as you think proper. 

      Below is the P.ticulars how  my Bill on Mr Skutt is made up & with our Compliments to all Friends we are  Dr Sir, Yours &c
