Letter – Nicholas Walton to John Maule – 12 Feb 1738

To Mr Maule 						Ravensworth Castle   Febry 12th.1737/8  



Dear Sir 

	As the Settling of our Accot. to the 31 Decem. last cannot be attended by either of us, it will necessarily follow that a greater trouble will fall upon you in Settling the same, as you will be Obliged to attend the Auditor in our steed, which will be a troublethat we cou’d not take the liberty to ask you to take upon you had we not in former instances experienced your friendship and favour. – On that Accot. it is that we now desire you will take upon you the Settling the Accot. for us, & for your trouble therein shall be ready to make you any reasonable satisfaction we intend making you a present of Ten Guineas & besides to pay uyour Clerks for their trouble what ever you shall yr self think right. This we thought proper to Communicate to you before we send our Accot & beg you will favour us with your answr by return of the post or as soon as it is Convenient. – We will endeavour to make the Accot. out in such manner that we hope it will be settled without a great deal of trouble & the Vouchers shall be putt into Order so as to give as little as possible. – Pray our kind respects to Dr Cockburn & all other our friends at Greenwich &c & we are
