Ravensworth Castle May 18. 1739 To Mr Maule Dr Sir Yours of the 10th of May Inst is now before me in which I observe you have again Spoke to Mr Hunter in relation to the manner in which he proposes to have the Accot. for last year made out, & I find he is still desirous of having the Arrears Incerted upon the face of the Accot. – I must Confess I cannot see what end it will answer, or of what use it will be, as a list of Arrears woud Answer the same end Separate; however in any way that is thought proper we will readily Comply & do as Mr Hunter directs – Wee will have the April Cash Accot. ready next week when it shall be sent Mr Corbett, so that you will then have materiall to prepare it in the way you propose, but you will please to Observe to Mr Hunter that making up the Accot. to the last of April, will necessarily require the Mayday Rents to be brought in as being due the day following and besides of Consequence will make the Accot. for 1 ½ years instead of One year so that the Arrears will Still be the same as to number and equall in <bulk> to one Compleat Rentall of the Estate. I sho’d desire at this time that Mr Hunter wou’d agree to the Accot. being in the way it was made up the year 1737 for I see it plain unless it can be done in that way it cannot be prepared against the first declaration; pray use your Interest with Mr Hunter to have it done in that way. I expected to have seen you again before I left London as the Colonell proposed coming down with me to Greenwich. I am heartily glad he remembered you before he left London. Mr & Mrs Boag present you & Mrs Maule their Service & I am, Dr Sir Your most hble servt Nich. Walton
