To Mr John Maule Ravensworth Castle March 19. 1737/8 Dear Sir Inclosed herewith we send you the Generall Accot. of our Recets & Payments as Recets of the Rents Issues & profits of the Derw[entwater] Estate from the 14 Nov 1736 tto the 31 Dec last by which there then remaind a Balance of £398 – 0 - 2 ½ in favour of the Hospitall, agreeable to the Supplimentall Cash Accot. we sent the Board. And upon this general Accot. Is shewn the Rents & Arrears to Mart[inmas] 1737 as allso the Arrears Standing out in the respective Tennants hands to 31 Dec last for which they remain D[ebto]rs. You have allso a Pticular Accot Inclosed shewing how the severall Totalls for Each Estate are made up, in which you will Observe the Arr[ear]s due at mart[inma]s 1734 are Included, and some small ommissions in the Rentalls made up bu us. And you have likewise the Accot of Arrears due from the respective Tennants the 31 Dec last , which said two Accots we hope will make Clear to you the first & third Collumns in the Debt side of the Accot. the former of which amounting to £12468-3-8 ¾ & the latter amounting to £5360-19-6. We have Inclosed to Mr Corbett this day the Generall Accot. of which this sent you is an Exact Coppy, with a proper Affidavit annexed thereto, swore by us yesterday before Mr Airey who is a Comm[ission]er in the Exch[eque]r. This Accot. & Arrears we apprehend will in Course Come before you but as it will take up some time in passing the Board we tho[ugh]t it was proper to send you a Coppy to save time the postage of which shall be repayd you, After all examinations as to Keswick Arrears, we find the Tolls & Shop &c Rents differ from the Demesne Lands, that is there is half a years Rent more due from these Tennants than from the Tennants of the Demesne lands, & consequently at settling the last Accot. there was an omission in the Arrears of the Accot Settled the 14 Nov 1736, in order therefore to Clear that up to you, we have Inclosed sent you an Abstract or Rentall shewing these omissions, with the Arrears & as they were there stated the growing Rents & Arrears seperate as they stood the 31 Dec last, in Distinct Collumns. This we think is all the Explanation we Can give of the Debt Side of the Accot. & as to the Credit Side thereof we have made out Pticular Accot. to Shew how each Totall is made up & bundled them with the Vouchers belonging thereto & have sent the whole by the Carrier to Col. Liddell & unto Mr Lovegrove who will deliver you them as soon as you require them. They are all Numbered in Bundles, Conformable to the Accots & will be soon Called Over so that Mr Lovegrove will do this, with you or whom you shall Order. We leave the whole to your good management & Care, and do not doubt but you will give it all reasonable dispatch, & hope that it may be done so as to come before the Chancellor of the Exch[eque]r at the next declaration of Accots which we recken will b at the rising of this Session of Parliam[en]t.
