Letter – Nicholas Walton to John Maule – 27 Aug 1738

Ravensworth Castle  Aug 27. 1738

To Mr John Maule



Dear Sir

	I was favoured with yours of the 19th Inst (Mr Boag being from home) for which I give you many thanks. The Quarterly Contingent Accot. shall come from hence as soon as Mr Boag & I are together that we can write a Joynt Letter therewith to the Board.

	The undivided Lands in Corbridge amounting to 667 acres is all Inclosed & Improved Land, having been in various sort of Tillage time out of Mind, & therefore should be reckoned Inngrounds. All the Land in Corbridge lies either interspersed in Ridges, or what is no way divided, but all has been improv’d many years. There is besides Moor or Waist  belonging to Corbridge in which all the Freeholders have a right & the Duke of Somersett is Lord, and it was that Moor or Waist as well as the Inclosd land of Corbridge lying in Common or Ptnership wch we recommended to be divided. But you must observe that no Moore or Waist belonging to Corbridge was Surveyed. I hope this will Clear it up to you & that you will make your report so soon as you conveniently can, that Mr Thompson may be paid. 

	I shall be very glad to hear of a Declaration of Accot. & do not doubt your readiness to forward the finishing our Affair, we are very happy in so kind a friend in it. I am very Glad to hear of the resolutions of the Board on which I Sincerely Congratulate you. I am also glad to hear Sir Charles Wager is upon the Recovery. I wish him Health as I doe you & all Friends & I am
