Ravensworth Castle Jan 29th 1739/40 To Mr Pearson We desire that you will gett Isaac Todd and any other man skilled in valuing wood that lives in your Nighbourhood and they with yourself goe to Thornthwaite and put a value upon what Wood has been cutt by any of he Tenants since we was concerned. We beg you will be very Exact as to the valuation, and sett down each Tenants name, and the sort & quantity Cutt from time to time and Also the bark with a distinct valuation to each. When this is fair and Intelligably writt over let the two men that valued & your selfe sign it. Mind and Recolect what has been done for you know it from time to time. We desire that you will send us this Accot. as soon as you can for we want it. The Board have consented that Thornthwaite Tenants shall have wood for Repairing their Houses and Also for plow & Hedge boot, but with this provisoe that it be judged Necessary and when it is so thought Necessary, to be sett out by the Bayliff, and we Strictly charge you not to doe any thing to the prejduce of the Hospital in Setting out any wood for these Tenants; but doe it with judgement and discretion.
