                                                                              Ravensworth Castle  July 14 1737

Dear Sr

	Your favour of the 19th June last is before us and in answer we are sorry we Cannot Comply with what you desire as to Winning Limestone in the Estate of Scremmerston.

	The Directors of the Hospitall have positively Commanded us not to Suffer any person whatever to Win Limestone in any of their Estates without paying for the Liberty of doing so, & this to themselves & not their Tennant who has a right to no more Limestone than what they make use of themselves.

	Mr Wilkie & <Kn..g..way> may win what quantity they please provided it no way Interfere with our Tennants, paying them a Satisfaction for Spoile of ground, and the Hospitall a further Satisfaction of a penny per Fother till Mayday next giving us an Accot at Martinmas, Candlemas & Mayday next of the Severall quantitys they get from time to time

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale.
