Dear Sir
We reced. Yor. favour of 1st Inst. & are greatly Oblidged to you for it among many more.
Inclosed is Mr Geo: Panthoons own Letter to us whereby you will see that it is his & Mr Hayleys fault we have not yett seen the Lease we wish it were in our power to doe any but for your Mutual Advantage, its a thing we have all along been afraid off that you or Mr Corbett would be thinking, we were Dilatory in going into this undertaking, & Realy we are Dubious that it may not prove, tho we wish Sincearly it may. Mr Panthoon you Observe by his letter is Sett forward for London & we hope youle see him we are Dear Sr. Your Humb. Servts

A copy of the letter from George Pantoune to Walton, is given elsewhere under date 25 Feb 1740. Walton & Boag were proposing a joint investment with William Corbett and Richard Horn in a new lead mine in Galloway, SW Scotland. ‘Harbert Law’ was possibly Harbut Law just south-west of Alston.
