To Mr Richd. Horne

Dear Sir

I Received yours last Post but I have not had an opportunity of acquainting Mr Boag with the Contents but tomorrow I shall. For my own part I am ready & willing to Engage with Mr Corbett & you in the undertaking, but as you will both be governed by our opinion of the prospect, I coud wish to be better able to advise you before we do Engage I was at Alston the beginning of this month where I saw Mr Panton who had not then got the Lease but he told me he Expected it daily so that he may now probably have it. I cannot write to him Sooner then Tuesday next nor cannot have his answer before the Tuesday following when I will desire him to send me the Lease for our perusall, wth his Ans. to some Querys which will be necessary for our government. When these things come to hand you shall hear fully from us both. I have made some steps towards taking a mine Joyning upon Alston moor wch is aworking one but badly managed, & I doubt not but she might be a profitable undertaking. This I intend (if it can be compassed) for Mr Corbett, you, Mr Boag & myself. The George is Loaden with Coales & I fancy sailed, but the River is so frozen that no Boats can pass, which has prevented us from sending yourOats, as we cou’d not gett them putt on board with Carrying them by land Carriage near Seaven miles. My Compliments attends Mr Corbett & his family & also yours who I wish may all Enjoy this & many happy years &

I am, Dr Sir, Yr very Sincere Hble Servt. Nicho. Walton.
