Ravensworth Castle Decem 19th 1739 To Mr Downs Sir We reced. yours and Observe the Care you have taken to Secure the Arrears due from Green Dixon & Bell, the first of which proposes to give Robert Farbridges Security for the paymt. of his Arrear, wch we have consented to Accept, if you think the Security be good, but if not the Goods must be sold tomorrow pursuant to the Notice. He has promised to be with you this night or tomorrow morning to give you Farbridge’s Security for the paymt. of £77.6.6 now in Arrear & due at Mart<inmas> last. Robt. Dixon we think will be able to pay us Thirty Pounds on New Years Eve & as we have a security from W. Dixon who you say is substantial we think there is no Occasion to Sell his Goods, but lett the Distress be renewed and Continued till an End be made of the Execution. If Green give Security the Distress must likewise be continued on his Goods for the same time as a Guard against the Plantiff Bell is no Tenn.t so that it was wrong to Seize on his Goods; I fancy he will pay off all at the Rent day. Dixon & Green shou’d pay your Charges of making Distresses lett it be included in the Security. I am Dear Sir Yrs &c Nich: Walton
