To Mr Shaftoe Downs in Hexham

Dr Sirs

We reced. Yours with your Abstract of the Assignment of the Lease of high Stublock Colliery, as also yours with the Coppy of the said Assignment, in which we Observe your care, for which all proper acknowledgements shall be made, & in the mean time you have our sincere and hearty thanks.

We were yesterday with Mr Richmond, & Shewed him your Coppy & Willys Information, the former of which we left with him & allowed him to Abstract Willys Information, in Order that a friendly End may be made, which we have hopes of, as Mr Richmond seems inclinable to drop pretensions to the Colliery. It may not be amiss for you to caution Willy to say nothing to any of Mr Blacketts people, if they should ask him any Questions; and pray make what further discovery you can.

This day, we have wrote a Letter to Matthew Brown, which You have Inclosed, you may peruse it, and then Seal it, & give to Mr Bunting to be delivered him; You may be assured of our doing every Just thing to Support your Interest, in this Affair, as farr as we have it in our power & We are Sir , Yours &c

      Nicho. Walton
