Sir

	I Reced. yours of the 2d of Aug Inst with one Inclosed from poor Mr Tolson for Whose death I am heartily sorry, as he was not only an honest man but a verry Sensible good Companion. I reced. likewise the same post a letter from Birkett and one from Parson Jefferson, the former of which being a dealer in so many words, I have wrote to this day desiring he may wait upon you with the money, & the latter having desir’d time till the next Court I have wrote to & Consented to take it then. you may however if it falls in your way take his prom[isor]y note payable then, & in case Birkett does not come and pay you pray write another threatning Letter, which if he does not obey doe what the law directs to recover the money. I hope we have proof to suport the fact. I am apt to think as you doe that Mr Tolson has been ill used in the Information against him but if the facts aledged are clearly proved what can we doe for the Widows relief, I wish you would Examine into the proof and lett us know your Sentiments thereon.  We dont want to be hard upon her giving her prom.y Note. When Mr Emmerson comes your way I will desire him to give you a Call & bring us the proceedings of the Last Court at aldston, but you might Send them Every Week by the carryer directed for me at Mr Dawsons Shop Mercht in Newcastle. We have had a brave N. Est Wind & one may almost venture to Swear Sir John Norris is Sail’d.
