Sir

	We Reced yours with the Boards Minutes of the 31 January last, wch shall be duly Observed; The Colliery at Scremmerston has been this week View’d by Mr Boag and an Experienced Viewer sent from this place, but not having had time to Consider it fully we cannot send you a report thereof before next Post, when you will receive it with a Computation of the Expence of the new Levell.

	Mr Armorer has about twelve Acres of Land lying in Ridges amongst the Inclosed Lands at Scremmerston, and is Entitled to Six Stints or CowGates besides, in the Inclosed Lands likewise; by which he has a right to a Share in the undivided Common in proportion to his Inclosed lands. Now the Tennants of Scremmerston, having taken that Estate on Lease for Twenty One Years, have agreed amongst themselves to divide & Improve the Moore without first agreeing with Mr Armorer to Sett of his Share, wch has Caused the Complaint. They have now agreed to Sett him off his share, and have on Each Side Chose a person to determine what that Share shall be, which will putt an end to this dispute. You will please to Observe the Directors are no way Concernd in this Division, being a thing the Tennants have only agreed upon for their mutuall benefit; which nevertheless the Hospitall will be greatly benefitted by at the end of the present Terme.

	Inclosed we Send you our Quarterly Contingent payments ending the 31 December last, which you will please to Lay before the Board for their approbation & you’ll greatly Oblige Sir
