Ravensworth Castle Sept 12. 1740 To Wm. Corbett Esqr. Sir Herewith I send you our Cash Accot. for last Month, whereby you will observe there is a ballance of £147:13:7 ¾ in our favour. & Inclosed is likewise two agreements made for building a house & Byre at Whittles & Leehouses, which is lately falen down & therefore must be built this Season & the other for a Barn which cannot be Wanted on Thomas Humbles Farm at Whittonstall; you will therefore be pleased to lay these agreements before the Board for their Approbation. We have reced. a proposall from Mich. & John Swan, Robt. Storey & Edwd. Willson for their joynt farming Lorbottle Tyths, which proposal I also send you herein & think it may be proper if the Board have no objection to accept of £36 per annum for 3 years but as some other proposalls may yett be lodged for these Tyths, we begg leave to recomend it to the board not to be haisty in their Confirmation & for Mr Boag & Selfe I am Sir Your most Obt. Servt. Nich. Walton An Accot. of Agreement made with Severall Workmen by Messrs Walton & Boag for building housing on the Derwentwater Estate Subject to the Approbation of the Board of Directors for Greenwich Hospital the 11 September 1740 Whittles and Lee Houses Geo Liddell and Wm Yallowley Tennts. Then Agreed with Robert Naisbett for building one Dwelling house 24 foot long by 5 yards wide and a Byer 21 foot long by 5 yards wide nd the walls 9 foot high, the Dwelling house to have an upper floor & a Staircase, the whole to be done in a Workmanlike manner & to find all manner of materialls Exclusive of Leading for £42 – 0 – 0 Part of Hoods Close and Jenny Farms at Whittonstall Then agreed with William Ironsides and Ptners for building a Barne 21 foot long by 15 foot wide & 12 foot high, the whole to <be> Done in workmanlike manner & to find all materialls Except Leading for £18 – 0 – 0 £60 Lorbottle Aug 19. 1740 Gentlemen We propose to give for Lorbottle Tyth for 7 Years from Mayday 1741 £35 per Ann. or for 3 years from Mayday 1741 £36 per ann.
