      Ravensworth Castle  April 4th 1740

To Wm Corbett Esqr.



Sir

	We reced. last Wednesday from Mr Abraham Watson agent to the Gov.r & Company for Smelting down Lead A proposal of that date which we send you Inclosed for taking on Lease or Tack three veines in Alstonmoor the first of which they have wrought for some time and now work it by vertue of a Lease they have of a moiety. The other Moiety which they now would take being what belongs to the Hospital and is called Wineybrow als windbrow. The other two viz Cleargillhead burn als Clargil Cleughhead & Cocklake being totally the property of the Hospital, for all which you will be pleased to observe Mr Watson offerd 1/6th Duty. This Sir is all the offers that have been made us.

	Inclosed we send you the Moormasters accot. ending Christmas last, of what quantity of ore was raised at the severall mines in that quarter, & Also his accot. of what mines were then lying unwrought, The quarter ending at Ladyday will be sent you in a small time.

	Mr Airey has sent us his Law bill including what he has employd Mr Downs in which we send you Inclosed, what we think relates properly to us you will be pleased to observe we have deducted out of the bills which we will pay ourselves & we are

A Copy of Mr Ab. Waltons proposal for some lead mines in Alston Moore sent the Board the 4 Apr 1740



Abraham Watson for the Govern. & Com. proposes to take in Note for one year or on Lease for 21 years Windbrow at 1/6th  and the Eastside of Clargillhead burn at 1/6th and Cocklake at 1/6th.
