Letter – Nicholas Walton to William Corbett – 5 Jul 1737

Sir

	After Severall enquirys and examinations into the matter in Dispute between the Hospitall & the Keswick Tennants, we have produced to us a Lease of Old Park dated 16th August 1711, for 21 years Commenceing at Ladyday preceeding under the yearly Rent of £20, payable at Penticost & Martinmas in every year, by which means every years Rent was payd up at Martinmas preceeding the end of each year.

	We have examined the Recets of Severall & Inclosed you have Coppys of Mr Miles Willson Recets from the time he entered upon his Farme (wch was at Ladyday 1731) to Marts last, by which it very plainly appears he has payd Six years Rent, which must be in full to Ladyda	y last altho’ due the Martinmas preceeding.

	The Late Mr Radcliff dying about Decemr 1731 by the Tenr of the above mentioned Lease, all Rent to Ladyday 1731, became due to the Derwenttr Family, but whether in Law they Paid such right is we think the matter in dispute If they had not a right to grant Leases in that way, then we apprehend the full half year Rent is due from that family, for the Tennants have undoubtedly payd all that is due from them.  We have however made a demand of the Tennants & so Soon as we have the further Commands of the board their orders Shall be putt in execution

	We reced the Boards Minutes of the 29 Ulte in Course, as we did yours, with all the Boards Commands relating Mr <Jenison>, all which shall be duly regarded.

	Inclosed is our Cash Accot for last Month & we are Sir     Yours etc
