Ravensworth Castle Decr 7th 1739 To Wm Corbett Esqr. Sir This day we have Incerted an Advertisment in the Newcastle Journal for letting the severall farmes given up at Martinmas Against Mayday Next & the same will be published by such other methods as will make the letting publick. We apprehend we cannot by any Advertisment now to be made for letting against mayday Next lett longer than one year, for as the sev<era>l farmes were only given up at Martinmas Six Months previous notice cannot be given of the time and place for they must be all lett soon or they will not be lett at all this Season as every one provides a farme for himselfe generally between Martinmas & Christmas in every year, they must therefore at present be lett for one year and be advertised again ab<ou>t ladyday Next to be lett on Lease for 21 years at the Mich. following pursuant to the Act of Parliament . We have wrote to Mr Jefferson this post & as soon as we receive his answer it shall be sent you with our Remarks upon it, And if other letter as you direct . Inclosed we send you a rentall of the Derwentwater Estate as it was lett at Mayday last & herewith you will Receive likewayes six sheets of the Copy of the Grand Indenture from No.12 Exclusive to 24 Inclusive and we are Sir Your most Obedt.
