Ravensworth Castle Dec.8. 1738 To Wm Corbett Esqr Sir Inclosed we send you a Draught of the Intended Lease of the Lead Mine in Scotland, which was proposed to you to be concerned in wth Mr Horne and us. It is sent to the Gent[lema]n who ha shad the Transacon of the Affair. The Lease is drawn in as favourable a manner as possible as we think for us as Lessees, but if any thing is of your opinion otherwise pray lett us know by returne of the post that we may acquaint the Gentn. therewith. We have desired the Lease may be Ingross’d in Scotland & have appointed to meet the Gentn. (who is a member of Parliament) at Carlisle with the Lessor, in order that it may be Executed by him & us there, & he will bring the Counterpart to London for you & Mr Horne to Execute there. In the Draught of the Lease you will observe the Due is 1/10th but as we doubt we cannot have it under a Ninth we have left in in [sic] the power of our friend to make it so if he cannot otherwise. Your Oates shall be sent by the first ship, we are sorry you have wanted them & are, Sir Your most Hble Serts Nich Walton Hugh Boag PS Tho’ we are Joynt Lessees in the Articles of Partnership, your share shall be what ever you chuse.
