Sir

	We Reced. yours of the 25d Inst. last post, by which we observe the Boards directions in regard to the Leases which have been omitted <....> in the Covenant relating to Wood Hall Mills  before they were signed by the generall Court – The Tennants will have a great objection to the Commission[er]s part having that Covenant, alltho’ if it is Eraised in their own before Execution wee cannot see they are Suferers or can be so. You have herewith the number of Leases & Names of Tennants who cannot be bound to that Covenant, and as you are pleased to lay the mistake at Mr Walton’s door, he desires for his justification, that the severall papers which he drew out of the Pcells before the Leases were fill’d up, may be laid before the board; as he is sensible he made use of these words (not to be bound to grind at Woodhall Mill) in every one of ‘em without the Barroney of Langley or Manour of Wark, exept Mr Reed for Buteland, who tho he is within the Manour of Wark, lyes at least 10 Miles from Woodhall Mill, & therfore of Consequence as Inconvenient as if he had lived without the Manour and we are

Ps Would not a memorandum made on the back of Each Lease of these of the inclosed Number that are Signed to this purport do as well as Erazing Viz That Whereas the within Named [blank space] is by mistake bound in the within Lease to grind his Corn at Woodhall Mill, it is intended that he shall grind it at [blank space] Mill under the same Covenants & penalty that is mentioned for Woodhall Mill.

      We will send you in a weeks time an accot. of the parcells &c for filling up all the Rest of the Leases; that will answer printed

9 Joseph Kepple for Needless hall

10. Mr George Morton for Outchester

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
