Mrs Beaumont under cover to Newcastle April 30th 1804 Colonel Beaumont Portman Square, London Madam Your Favor of the 27th Inst. came to Hand, which by Mr Blackett’s Direction I have opened in his absence. I observe by you letter & by Mr Bowns’s that Colonel Beaumont has received the several Bills on London remitted him & Mr Blackett, amounting in the whole to £28,475-13-9 & that they are paid into the Bank of Sir R[ichar]d C. Glyn & Co. also that the several arrangements are completed with them in Regard to your Lead Pays. I do not understand that Sir W[ilia]m Loraine & Co. propose to advance the Sum of £5,000 as a loan, but that they are willing to discount Bills on London to that amount for the Purpose of the Lead Pays, which would decrease the Sum to be drawn for at Sight on Sir R[ichar]d C. Glyn & Co., and a part of the Bills received have been kept in Reserve here for that Purpose, amounting to about £3,000-0-0 Mr Blackett has not yet received any Certificate of the assessment of your Weardale Mines from the Comm[issioner]s acting for Darlington ward; Mr Heron has wrote to Mr Bowes to obtain it, which when he has done, Mr Blackett will proceed to appeal against it, as mentioned to you in his former Letters. At Mr Blackett’s return on Wednesday next I will lay Mr Bowns’s Letter before him containing Instructions in Regard to the arrangements with Messrs Glyn & Co. He does not propose putting his Bills at Sight on them, into the Hands of Sir W[ilia]m Loraine & Co before the Morning of the 28th of May next. When the Statement & Propositions of the Bank Comm[issioner]s have been prepared & obtained of them they will be forwarded for your Consideration previous to the intended Meeting of forbearing Creditors. I remain yours etc. T. C.
