      Mr. Blackett has at length come to an Agreement with The Lord Bp. of Durham’s Agent for the renewal of Kilhope Welhope & Lintzgarth Leases.  The Bishop having, thro’ the persuasion of Mrs. Beaumont, given up his intention of reserving ground for a Chapel &c. proposed to be built in Kilhope and requests you will procure a Certificate of the health of William Sykes of West Bretton (one Life mentioned in the Leases) signed by the Clergyman of the Parish and send the same to this pllace p[er] first opportunity.   As this business can not be further proceded in, till we are made acquainted with the names of the Persons, who are to be inserted in the place of the late George Brooks and of Geo. Robson: you will please to request of Mrs. Beaumont to know if she has already fixed upon any, and whom.   I am &c. T..C..

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
