Messrs Finlay Hodgson & Co London March 23rd 1833 I beg to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of 19th and 21st inst the former advising of your having sold 1500 p[iece]s Lead to Messrs Bayley & Co of Bristol, giving them the refusal of 1500 p[iece]s more the latter covering a copy of the contract. We shall have no difficulty in the delivery of the refined, but should they require the common and Slag, and should Walker & Co require their delivery for the past and present month to be made, we could not possibly do it. As soon as the returns are made from the Mines you shall have an amount sent. I wd not object to ship Bayley & Co Lead at the usual commission which I wd do by my sen [?] My reason for declining to ship Mr Keys Lead must have been obvious to you. At the same time I am in no way anxious about it. I have no intention of selling Litharge in small quantities below £14-10 and could I depend upon the Lead Co Keeping up the price I wd readily support them. I have only offered one Parcel of 300 Casks at £14 Ck/w has not as yet been accepted. Indeed the Parker Beomiter Gibbons & Co living at Neath in South Wales could not as yet have answered their agents. I enclose two bills together value £6573.17.0 for Messrs Maltbys acceptance, ck/w I will thank you to get effected and return them to me. The Stamps have been furnished by Mr Josh Crawhill. Mr Alfred Hall informs me that Mr Taylor has refused £13.10 for 100 tons of lead on the Sea to go to Bristol and expects to get £13.15. This lead is of the same quality as our common lead.
