Letters – Benjamin Johnson to Finlay & Hodgson – 6 Jul 1833

Messrs Finlay Hodgson & Co						6 July 1833



      I now send you my Cash A/c & Stockton List. It is quite evident that we must substitute ordinary Refined Lead for Common & the sooner we commence to make our sales half Ref[ine]d half Com[mon] including one tenth Slag the better. I have this day sent you by Jackson & Cos Waggon a p[iece]e of fine Silver w[eigh]t 1401 1/8 Ozs. I must trouble you to forward to Mr Beaumont in case he should not return to London before he goes to the Continent  <their> parcels of permission to shoot on his moors.   

      I have written to Messrs Maltby & Sons, in answer to a letter I rec[eive]d from them yesterday that you would call upon them & arrange the payment of the [£] 16,446.2.8 due on the 12th Aug & that it might be paid to Glyn & Co in Cash.

	I fear Mr B[eaumon]ts continental trip will give great offence to his constituents.

P.S. Mr Donkin has had a letter from the Bishop’s Agent to say that he cannot recommend his Lordship to accept less than what was first asked for the renewal £10,000 unless we can show that Mr Fenwick’s calculation was made on an enormous <belief>.
