Finlay & Co Mar 9th / 33 Dear Sirs I have duly recd yr letter of the 7th Inst a& now inclose two Bills together value £3,011. 14-5 for Mr Parker’s acceptance. I wrote Mr Parker another 2nd Inst requestg him to pay £1505..4..7 in Cash yesterday to Glyns & Co to Mr Bts credit with Batson & Co. You will oblige me by asecertaining that he has done so advising me of it & enclosing the accepted Bills. In respect to the Accts you request to have in advance it is quite out of my power to get them made out before Mr Donkin leaves – say Wednesday or Thursday next. The Accts for the quart Pay[ment]s in Apl next have not been recd from the sevl Agents & will not arrive until the middle or end of next week. These form as you know a great portion of the outlay in working the Mines & Mills for the Year ending Septr 1832 & it will require some time make out a correct Account such as Mr Bt can lay before his Brs & Srs. You are in possession of a prospective Acct of the probable quantity of Lead which will be produced to May next, & if necessary you shall have it to Octmas (sic) & knowing how we stand with our Bankers you may come to a pretty accurate calculation what money Mr Bt will be able to withdraw from the Lead a/c this Year. It will of course in in some measure depend upon the price we obtain for Lead. I would assume that Lead will still from the known decrease of Stock. I do not think the price on our Stock of Lead at the close of last Year can be taken below £11-10/- The premises in Tooley Street being Leasehold are liable to the Payment of the Legacies. The Limehouse Works are not liable as Mr Donkin will explain. Ihave declined selling more Lead in large quantities until we can more fully ascertain what Common Lead will be produced by Mr Pattinson’s new System. I saw it in operation yesterday and have no doubt of its success. It will greatly improve the qualityof our Common Lead & we expect to make it available for the best description of White Lead. As soon as we can send Mr Key a Keel of it, it shall be shipped. I expect in a week or at most ten days. I am Sir BJ
